Diesel Mechanic

Also referred to as:Diesel Engine Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Diesel Technician

Requirements and Responsibilities: Performs inspection, maintenance and repairs on heavy duty vehicles, such as trucks, trailers, forklifts, pickups, etc. Responsible for diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical trouble shooting, steering and cooling systems. Keeps track of the maintenance work on the vehicles. Ensures services provided are in compliance with safety procedures. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Typically requires 3-5 years of related experience. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.

Must have their own set of tools.

Class A CDL preferred.

Must be willing to work weekends.
